Chattanooga Times Free Press names Jason Taylor, Gannett Co.’s 2006 executive of the year.

Staff Report

10/06/2007 -- Jason Taylor, senior vice president/sales and marketing for The Honolulu Advertiser, has been named president and general manager of the Chattanooga Times Free Press. His appointment is effective immediately.

“Jason brings extensive experience in advertising and marketing and will build the Chattanooga Times Free Press as a leading-edge media company,” said Walter Hussman, chairman and CEO of WEHCO Media Inc., the parent company of the Times Free Press.

Mr. Taylor, 33, replaces Dan Nausley, who resigned from the newspaper.

“I appreciate Dan’s hard work over the years at the Chattanooga Free Press and the Times Free Press,” Mr. Hussman said.

Recognized as the 2006 executive of the year among the Gannett Co.’s 96 daily newspapers, Mr. Taylor recently was recognized with the company’s Chairman’s Award in 2006 and 2007.

Prior to Honolulu, Mr. Taylor was employed with Georgia-based Morris Multimedia Inc., serving as general manager for The Times in Gainesville, Ga. He also was director of advertising and marketing for The Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

“I am excited to not only be coming home to Tennessee but to lead a newspaper with such a great reputation and track record of success,” Mr. Taylor said. “Chattanooga has an incredible sense of community and hospitality. I look forward to doing all I can to help the Times Free Press and Chattanooga excel.”

Mr. Taylor and his wife, Honey, have three children: Hope, 8; Haley, 6; and Jackson, 4.
